HU CHIA (Tajwan)

"Tajwan Monkey & Crane Double Form Chuan I Butoh" - technika autorstwa mistrza Chen Ming-Lun należy do systemu wewnętrznych sztuk walki miękkich kończyn. Na Tajwanie technika ta ma już ponad 150-letnią tradycję. Wykorzystuje spokojne, łagodne i powolne ruchy i kładzie szczególny nacisk na trzy jednoczesne elementy: oddech, ręce i stopy. Koncentrując się na pozach i ruchach sprawia, że stopy stają się bardziej żywe, ręce bardziej elastyczne, a ruchy bardziej naturalne i płynne. Technika zawiera zarówno elementy Zen jak i sztuk walki, co poprawia skupienie w ciele i koncentrację podczas tańca Butoh. Harmonia w ciele, szybka integracja komunikatów płynących z wnętrza tancerza, jak i z zewnątrz pomagają osiągnąć wewnętrzny spokój.

Hu Chia jest dyrektorem artystycznym Huchia Theatre（滅劇場）, założycielem i przewodniczącym Tajwan International Butoh Association（社團法人台灣國際舞踏協會）, a także - w trzecim pokoleniu - praktykujący Taiwan Monkey & Crane Double Form Chuan（台灣猴鶴雙形拳. Od momentu powstania Teatru Huchia w 2008 roku, jest zaangażowany w rozwój Butoh-Kaligrafii, która łączy sztukę kaligrafii i cielesną estetykę współczesnego Butoh na Tajwanie. Poprzez tę zintegrowaną formę sztuki, Hu Chia wprowadza widzów we współczesną kaligrafię na Tajwanie i w głębokiego ducha Zen（禪）we współczesnej estetyce Tajwanu. Spektakle Teatru Huchia charakteryzują się zastosowaniem kaligrafii do interdyscyplinarnych for sztuk wizualnych i performatywnych. Hu Chia łączy powściągliwego i łagodnego ducha tajwańskiego Monkey and Crane Double Form Chuan z przestrzenią artystyczną złożoną zarówno z ludzi, jak i środowiska.

THOMAS A. BRADLEY (Australia/Francja)

Sesja Thomasa A. Bradleya zawiera przywłaszczone elementy praktyki Ankoku Butoh. Ciało staje się miejscem spotkania wyobrażonych sił wewnętrznych i zewnętrznych. Powtarzalne, funkcjonalne ruchy łączą się z muzyką psytrance, tworząc atmosferę, w której ciało samo wyraża siebie. Wspólna praktyka Choreografii Improwizowanej przechodzi w dynamiczną choreograficzną grę od improwizacji na temat klarowności formy do stałych sekwencji.

Thomas A. Bradley - mieszkający we Francji australijski artysta multidyscyplinarny, którego sztuka skupia się wokół ciała. Pracuje głównie jako tancerz, projektant kostiumów i pedagog w Emanuel Gat Dance (FR). Wcześniej pracował z Sydney Dance Company i Australian Dance Theatre w Australii. Był dwukrotnie nominowany do nagrody dla Najlepszego Męskiego Tancerza - Australian Dance Awards, a w 2015 roku otrzymał stypendium Tanja Liedtke na podróż do Europy. Stworzył wiele krótkich choreografii w Australii i Nowej Zelandii, a także skomponował ich partytury. Na zaproszenie Dance Medium (Yuri Nagaoka i Seisaku) udał się do Japonii, aby uczyć się tańca Butoh w zespole Sankaijuku (2015/2017) i u Yoshito Ohno. Bradley co roku wraca do Japonii na miesiąc intensywnych treningów. Poza tymi wizytami kontynuuje własne badania nad „częstotliwością butoh” w swojej solowej pracy „yvonne” i duecie „clay” z Daiem Matsuoką (Sankaijuku). Twórczość Bradleya obejmuje również teksty krytyczne, produkcję muzyki i wideo oraz projektowanie kostiumów. Jego krótki esej „o tańczeniu*” (2019) opisuje doświadczenie jednoczesnego myślenia i tańca. Został napisany na zamówienie i opublikowany przez Delving into Dance (AUS). Jako projektant kostiumów współpracował z kilkoma australijskimi choreografami, a także na zlecenie StaatsBallett Berlin, Scottish Dance Theatre i Emanuel Gat Dance. Jego Butoh-barokowe projekty oversize pojawią się także w nowym filmie La Parade de Chaillot Emanuela Gata, wyprodukowanym przez Theater Chaillot w Paryżu i Emanuel Gat Dance.

HU CHIA (TAIWAN)

Taiwan’s Monkey & Crane Double Form Chuan（台灣猴鶴雙形拳）technique (system by master Chen Ming-Lun) belongs to the soft limb internal martial arts system. In Taiwan, this technique already holds more than 150 years of history. Using quiet, gentle and slow motions for the design of its training courses, this technique places special emphasis on three simultaneous elements of motion: breath, hands, and feet. With a focus on physical poses and motions, it causes people’s feet to become more lively, hands and limbs to be more flexible, and motions to be more natural and smooth. Containing a restrained, gentle, and Zen（禪）-like spirit, the natural and simple martial arts improve your physical and mental acuity and concentration during Butoh（舞踏）dance performances. The harmony of body and limbs, quickly receive and integrate internal and external messages which also help to achieve one’s inner peace.

Hu Chia is the artistic director of Huchia Theatre（滅劇場）, serving as the founding chairperson of the Taiwan International Butoh Association（社團法人台灣國際舞踏協會）, and also the third generation of Taiwan Monkey & Crane Double Form Chuan（台灣猴鶴雙形拳）. Since Huchia Theatre’s establishment in 2008, he has been committed to the development of Butoh-Calligraphy Art, which combines the art of calligraphy and the corporal aesthetics of contemporary Butoh in Taiwan. Through this integrated form of art, Hu Chia introduces viewers to the synchronicity of contemporary calligraphy in Taiwan and the profound Zen（禪） spirit in Taiwan’s contemporary aesthetics. The performances of Huchia Theatre are characterized by an application of calligraphy to the interdisciplinary operations of visual and performing arts. Hu Chia connects the restrained and gentle spirit of Taiwan’s Monkey and Crane Double Form Chuan with artistic space composed of both people and environments.

THOMAS BRADLEY

Bradley's session includes appropriated elements of Ankoku Butoh practice, using the body as a meeting point for imaginative internal and external forces. Repetitive, functional movements combine with psytrance music to generate an atmosphere in which the body expounds itself. Latterly, a shared practice of Improvised Choreography generates a group dynamic of choreographic play, moving from improvisation on clarity, to fixed sequences.

Thomas Bradley. Based in Paris, Bradley is an Australian multi-disciplinary artist whose work is centralised around the body. He works primarily as a dancer, costume designer and pedagogue for Emanuel Gat Dance (FR) though has held contracts with Sydney Dance Company (3years) and Australian Dance Theatre (6months) in Australia. As a dancer he was nominated twice for Best Male Dancer in the Australian Dance Awards, and was awarded a Tanja Liedtke Scholarship in 2015 to travel to Europe. He has choreographed numerous short works across Australia and New Zealand, and also composed their scores. After an invitation from Dance Medium (Yuri Nagaoka and Seisaku) Bradley traveled to Japan to study Butoh dance along with Sankaijuku (2015/2017) and Yoshito Ohno. Bradley returns to Japan each year for a month of intensive training. Outside of these visits he continues his own research into the ‘Butoh frequency’ with his accumulative solo movement exposition yvonne and duo dance work clay with Dai Matsuoka (Sankaijuku). Bradley’s work spans critical writing, music and video production, and costume design. His short essay on a dancing* (2019) describes the experience of thinking and dancing simultaneously. It was produced and published by Delving into Dance (AUS). As a costume designer, he has worked with several Australian choreographers, as well as commissions from StaatsBallett Berlin, Scottish Dance Theatre and Emanuel Gat Dance. His oversized, Butoh-Baroque designs will feature in the new film La Parade de Chaillot by Emanuel Gat produced by Theatre Chaillot, Paris and Emanuel Gat Dance.
