"STRATA (WARSTWY)” to oparty na performansie film o filozoficznej, poetyckiej akcji, badający fascynującą historię jaskiń jako miejsc tworzenia wiedzy i sztuki. Poprzez interdyscyplinarne procesy artyści i naukowcy badają związek między ludzkim ciałem a geologiczną głębią podpowierzchniowych środowisk. Projekt koncentruje się na prehistorycznych jaskiniach Jury Szwabskiej, gdzie ludzie epoki lodowcowej szukali schronienia i tworzyli najstarsze znane przykłady ludzkich rzeźb figuratywnych. Jaskinie to symbiotyczne królestwa, w których odbywa się taniec między ucieleśnieniem a analizą, tym, co niewidoczne i nieprzewidziane, tym, co uciskane i niewypowiedziane, tym, co zapomniane i wyparte.

Artyści zebrali się, aby zajrzeć do rzeki ludzkiej cywilizacji i podzielić się tym, co znaleźli, a także prześwietlić koncepcje czasu, inteligencji ekologicznej i polityki poprzez performans przed kamerą. Film ukazuje perspektywę świata, w którym sztuka, nauka i wielorakie punkty widzenia odżywiają się nawzajem we współtworzonych procesach. Zagnieżdżeni w ciemnych przestrzeniach pod powierzchnią ziemi artyści konfrontują się z romantycznie zniekształconymi obrazami natury i naturalności, aby zdemontować skonsolidowane narracje i estetykę. Ludzkie ciało i rozwarstwione społeczeństwa są powiązane w ciągłości z geologią, postrzeganą przez pryzmat queerowej ekologii.

VestAndPage - Od 2006 roku niemiecka artystka Verena Stenke oraz urodzony w Wenecji artysta i pisarz Andrea Pagnes współpracują na arenie międzynarodowej jako VestAndPage w zakresie sztuki performatywnej, filmu opartego na performansie, pisania, publikowania i tymczasowych artystycznych projektów społecznościowych. VestAndPage eksploruje sztukę performance i tworzenie filmów jako zjawiska poprzez wspólną praktykę twórczą, badania artystyczne i projekty kuratorskie. Tworzyli sztukę performance i filmy m.in. pod lodowcami Antarktydy, u podnóża Himalajów, w bezkresie Ziemi Ognistej, w wojskowych enklawach czy w prehistorycznych systemach jaskiń. Ich prace były prezentowane w różnych miejscach oraz w teatrach, muzeach, galeriach i kinach na całym świecie. Są założycielami i dyrektorami Międzynarodowego Tygodnia Sztuki Performance w Wenecji, a ich badania i teksty poetyckie były szeroko publikowane i tłumaczone dla międzynarodowych czytelników. Dzielą się swoją metodologią i mentoringiem w zakresie wspólnych występów i tworzenia filmów na mistrzowskich kursach współtworzenia i byli gościnnymi wykładowcami w akademiach sztuki na całym świecie.

Po projekcji rozmowę z VestAndPage poprowdzi Małgorzata Sady - od końca lat 70 jako kuratorka, tłumaczka i autorka projektów artystycznych współpracuje z centrami sztuki, studiami filmowymi, uczelniami, festiwalami teatralnymi, sztuki performance i filmowymi w Polsce i na wszystkich kontynentach. Pisze i mówi o filmie, sztuce i literaturze, tłumaczy, fotografuje, maluje, tworzy przestrzenie dźwiękowe. Pracuje przy realizacji filmów dokumentalnych i animowanych. More than 20 performers, dancers, scientists in the international production VestAndPage! A film of philosophical, poetic action, STRATA blends film and performance art to explore the fascinating history of caves as sites of knowledge-making and art creation. Through interdisciplinary processes, artists and researchers investigate the connection between the human body and the geological depth of subsurface environments. The project focuses on the prehistoric caves of the Swabian Jura, where Ice Age humans sought shelter and created the oldest known examples of human figurative sculptures. The caves are the symbiotic realms to dance between embodiment and scrutiny, the unseen and the unforeseen, the oppressed and unspoken, the forgotten and the repressed.
 
Coming together to look into the river of human civilisation and to share what they had found, the artists irradiate concepts of time, ecological intelligence and politics through performances for the camera. The film pinholes a perspective on a world where art, science and multiple perspectives nourish each other in co-creative processes. Nestled inside the dark subsurfaces of the land, the artists confront romantically distorted images of nature and naturalness to dismantle consolidated narratives and aesthetics. The human body and stratified societies are tied in continuity to the geological, beheld through a lens of queer ecology. https://www.stratafilm.de
 
VestAndPage - Since 2006, German artist Verena Stenke and Venetian-born artist and writer Andrea Pagnes have been working together as VestAndPage in performance art, performance-based film, writing, publishing and temporary artistic community projects. VestAndPage have been exploring the phenomena of performance art and filmmaking through their collaborative creative practice, artistic research and curatorial projects. They have produced performance-based art and films, among other things, under Antarctic glaciers, at the Himalayan foothills, in the vastness of Tierra del Fuego, in military enclaves and inside prehistoric caves systems. In a psychogeography of symbiotic realms, they move between embodiment and research, the unseen and the unforeseen, the oppressed and unspoken, the forgotten and the repressed. Their works have been presented at various sites and in theatres, museums, galleries and cinemas worldwide. They are the founders and directors of the Venice International Performance Art Week, and their research and poetic writings have been extensively published and translated for international readers. They share their methodology and mentoring on collaborative performance and filmmaking in co-creation master classes and have been guest lecturers at art academies worldwide. 

After the film screening, we invite you to a meeting with the filmmakers, led by Małgorzata Sady - Since the late 1970s, as a curator, translator and author of artistic projects, she has been cooperating with art centers, film studios, universities, theater, performance art and film festivals in Poland and on all continents. She writes and talks about film, art and literature, translates, photographs, paints, creates sound spaces. Author of numerous translations in the field of contemporary art, literature, philosophy and history (Wittgenstein, Russell, Themerson, Czechowicz, Poświatowska and others).
