Butoh jest szczególnym zjawiskiem współczesnej sztuki tańca, ruchu, teatru tańca, teatru ciał, performansu - charakterystycznym i odmiennym od pozostałych form. Powstało w Japonii pod dużym wpływem europejskiej awangardy artystycznej i intelektualnej. To umiejscowienie butoh na styku kultury Wschodu i Zachodu, potwierdza tezy Antropologii Teatru o transkulturowości współczesnych sztuk performatywnych. Zmieniało się pod wpływem różnych kultur i wraz z pojawiającymi się kolejnymi generacjami artystów. Przez ponad 60 lat swojego istnienia butoh wpłynęło na sztuki performatywne na całym świecie. Festiwal Butohpolis prezentuje nowe butoh XXI w. w kontekście eksperymentalnych poszukiwań interdyscyplinarnych.
Jak co roku, w ramach VI edycji prezentujemy różne formy butoh i sztuki w duchu butoh. W tegorocznym programie znalazły się: spektakle tańca butoh oraz performance art polskich i zagranicznych artystów, film, video-art, wystawa grafik cyfrowych, wykład oraz spotkanie z artystami.
W 2024 r. tematami przewodnimi będą: butoh i muzyka, nowe sztuki rytualne oraz ekologia głęboka.
Czy istnieje muzyka butoh? Jeśli tak, to jest nią muzyka akusmatyczna jako wnikający w głęboką strukturę rzeczywistości dźwiękowy performans immersyjny. Muzykę akusmatyczną (powstającą w wyniku transformowania realnych dźwięków) i butoh łączy to samo pragnienie dotknięcia samej materii życia na jej najgłębszym poziomie.
Nowe sztuki rytualne to tendencja pojawiające się ponownie coraz częściej w artystycznych badaniach i praktykach w szeroko pojętych nowych sztukach performatywnych. Jest poszukiwaniem artystycznym w zakresie sztuki jako medium osobistej i społecznej transformacji.
Ekologia głęboka – jako pełna szacunku głęboka relacja ze sobą, innymi, z Innym jako takim oraz ze światem ożywionym i nieożywionym - łączy wszystkie zaplanowane w programie Butohpolis’24 dzieła.
Butohpolis jest nie tylko przestrzenią prezentacji form sztuki, ale także budowaniem społeczności – międzynarodowej społeczności performerów oraz społeczności artystów i widzów. Butohpolis to nie wyłącznie występy, ale postawa artystów, poziom pasji, autentyczności, to zaproszenie do intymnego spotkania, przyjaźni, celebracja wolności. To przestrzeń połączenia, w której szukamy alternatywy dla współczesnego świata oddzielenia.

Butoh is a special phenomenon of contemporary dance art, movement, dance theater, body theater, performance - characteristic and different from other forms. It was created in Japan under the great influence of the European artistic and intellectual avant-garde. This location of butoh at the crossroads of Eastern and Western culture confirms the thesis of Theater Anthropology about the transcultural nature of contemporary performing arts. It changed under the influence of different cultures and with the emergence of new generations of artists. For over 60 years of its existence, butoh has influenced performing arts around the world. The Butohpolis Festival presents new butoh of the 21st century in the context of experimental interdisciplinary research.
As every year, during the 6th edition we present various forms of butoh and art in the spirit of butoh. This year's program included: butoh dance performances and performance art by Polish and foreign artists, film, video art, an exhibition of digital graphics, a lecture and a meeting with artists.
In 2024, the main topics will be: butoh and music, new ritual arts and deep ecology.
Does butoh music exist? If so, it is acousmatic music as an immersive sound performance penetrating the deep structure of reality. Acousmatic music (resulting from the transformation of real sounds) and butoh share the same desire to touch the very matter of life at its deepest level.
New ritual arts are a trend that is reappearing more and more often in artistic research and practice in the broadly understood new performing arts. It is an artistic exploration of art as a medium of personal and social transformation.
Deep ecology - as a respectful, deep relationship with oneself, others, with the Other as such and with the animate and inanimate world - connects all the works planned in the Butohpolis'24 program.
Butohpolis is not only a space for presenting art forms, but also for building a community - an international community of performers and a community of artists and viewers. Butohpolis is not only about performances, but also about the attitude of the artists, the level of passion and authenticity, an invitation to an intimate meeting, friendship, and a celebration of freedom. It is a space of connection in which we look for an alternative to the modern world of separation.
